How do you repair a washing machine where the spin cycle is broken?

I have a whirlpool washing machine, and it has been working just fine for the last few months, now all of the sudden tonight the spin cycle stopped working... how do you fix the spin cycle or possibly look to see where the problem could be? HELP!!! I have 2 kids and a baby due in 4 weeks I need my washing machine along w/ the spin cycle!!!!!!!!!

Most likely the drain pipe of your machine is blocked with something, cloth? Empty out the water (siphon) remove the clamp below the tub and check the pipe. Before that check your outlet filter & drain.

I have found out that not only does the spin cycle not work but that all that's happening is that my clothes are sitting in soapy water, the spin thing doesnt work to wash the clothes nor does it extract the water from the clothes. The spin thing inside the machine doesn't move at all anymore. Anyone have any suggestions besides throw it out the door?

sounds like you have something in the pump. unplug washer remove panel at bottom of m/c made of plastic pump filter should be there.only remove filter if m/c has no water .you will need to spyphone out water by removing grey outlet pipe at the rear of m/c and lie it down into a bowl until m/c is empty repeat until water stops unplug washer saftey first

No my washing machine is an older model, just when it gets to spin cycle it doesnt work @ all, it goes to the rinse cycle works thru it and then stops completely instead of going thru the spin cycle. so in turn my clothes are soaking wet. it doesnt drain the water out of them

hye kortney. what do you mean by not spinning. not draining?not turning at high speed? not turning at all?does the timer finish the program?is your wm equiped with electronic component? i need all the information to help you.
