Mend Whirlpool AWZ541 Water Light Full Dryer

Water container light showing full on my Whirlpool Condenser Dryer AWZ541?

Can anyone help me pls? The water container light is showing 'full' even when its empty on my Whirlpool Condenser Dryer type AWZ541. Even on emptying the water collector the water collector light stays on - consequently we cannot get the dryer to work at all. Can anyone advise us what the problem is & how to fix it?
