machine is saying there is insufficient ram memory?

i believe it may have a virus. it will not even let me access the menu and open up the program to delete different programs. it will not let me delete even desktop icons, etc as it says there is insuffient memory. can you email me a copy of the inside of the pc, and what it does, and how to fix it plus suggestions on how to fix this pc. it is fully loaded, had enough rom memory still, and i really like this pc.

the model no is a 2000 presario, 5wv254 5000 series. it has a 700MHz Duron Processor, 64 MB of memory, a 20GB harddrive, a 8MB Nvidia TNT2 Graphics, and a 56 K modem. my network provider at the time was aol. i am wondering if they added enough cookies and spyware to take away most of the ram memory but without being able to access the program remover site etc i am not sure how to procede. i also have a surge protector the pc was hooked up to. Thank you - I miss my Compaq.
