It depends on what processor is already installed and the capacity of the mother board. The model of the socket is also importent.
Go on the Compaq site and search for your model or serie: Presario 5000.
If it's no longer listed or listed in the "legacy" section, then probably no. You probably can't find a socket compatible processor. You may still search for some "recycled" units...
If you find other models in the same serie as your's, and those have a more advanced processor, you may be able to upgrade to one of those processors.
