The updates always happen on the second Thursday of the month, also known as Patch Thursday.
Since how long did you not receive the updates?
How old is your computer? It may be to recent. Some of the more recent computers no longer get updates for Windows 7 and 8, and will stop receiving them for Windows 8.1 somewhere in 2018. If you have a CPU of the 3 latest generations, then, you won't get any new updates. Time to upgrade to a newer version of Windows, or switch to Linux.
If you want to update to Windows 10, you may still have a few days left until the very last option of doing so ends.
You should check if the Auto Update feature is still turned ON. Open the Maintenance Centre. If Auto Update is turned OFF, then an error message will be shown. From here, you can turn it ON again. I recommend that you set Auto Updates so that ALL users can launch the updates process.
You can launch the process manually :
Click the Start button and go to "more programms". You should see an entry named "Windows updates". Click it.
(you can also access it from the control panel)
In the new window that opens, click on "Search for updates". After some time, a list of all available updates will show up. Select them all and click on the OK button. If you don't select all, at least, select the important ones as well as the recommended ones. You may want to skip the optional ones.
