oh dear what a useless answer , check your gear cables ? no , look at the ends and the cable eyes and the gear brackets , then watch the video on you tube telling you how to set the gear cables correctly , and do a gearbox oil drain and refill, and check the brass bushing sleeve on the yellow marked cable where the eye loop goes on to the gear lever selction arm pin which is what your gearstick manipulates when you go to select a gear , if the cable and bush sleeve move along that pin ? you have identified one of the issues, so you then remove the r clip , take the eye loop and cable off that pin, and take the brass sleeve to a machine shop pay £30 and have a new snug fitting brass sleeve made , i did , and yes it works fine, so it isnt just check your cables at all, it is pay attention and learn something here, which is the point of answering questions, some people just dont get it , but then takes all sorts i guess , and yes you can watch the video it lasts 3 mins 11 secs, on you tube by remobilise , and yes it is correct , you dont just fart in to the cable and hope it doesnt smell, you open the window first yeah , analogy there, even if crude makes the point clear , checking gear cables means removing lower dash interior drivers side, amongst other things,

yes and also dont be a mug and pay £299 for used gear cables either, waste of money , get them from alibaba , about £40 including shipping costs , and brand new, not used stretched and worn at blartantly piddle taking prices , oh and for the ldv maxus, the gear cables for the short wheel base van are one yellow marked cable outer, and one red marked cable outer so you know, and no they dont cost £105 each either, that price is just a blatant mickey take, get them from alibaba they are brand new , not knackered unless you prefer mullered cables , which i dont personally, i prefer new ones, that arent inflated to provide somebody with riddick profiteering methodologies burnt in to their thoughts ,

yes do a gearbox drain and refill, ie the oil and make sure you dont use the wrong type either, and have a look at the bracket housing see if the middle gear cble eye moves along the pin, if it does ? as mine did, what you do is you take the cable eye loop off the pin, pull the brass bush off, take it to a macjhine shop that does brass tube and get one made let them measure it , using vernier guages, because that brass sleeve bush thing, has to be a snug fit on to the pin, and put a new r clip thru the hokle afterwards , on the end of the pin, oh and also , i added x 1 steel washer so the brass sleeve cant slide along the pin , at all, keeps the cables in central position , no slop ,

get some appropriate gear cable lubricating spray oil and lubricate the cables where they first attach to the gear shift mechanism behind the fascia panel where the gear shift lever is
