DECORATIVE LIGHT?

i want to fit a decorative light outside by my front door where is the best place to take my feed from do i need to take it from a ceiling rose or can i break into a feed from my garage were the 1.5 is exposed can i break into this with a junction box also if that is the best can someone e mail me diagram on how to set it out i e from junction to light switch to light etc thanks
