Mend Defy 600 Machine Good Pressure

my Defy Automaid does not allow water into the machine?

Defy Automaid 600. Machine wont start because no water is allowed into the machine although there is good pressure at the tap!
The machine is not draining during and after the spin cycle.
Are these two issues linked and how do I fix it?
