Ultima 65 Can't get poles off?

I fix roll laminators for a living in the pittsburgh area, as a indenpendent service company.

whatyou do is lide the film and the knobs, what you call poles as far as possible to the left, then tighten the thumbscrews on the right firmly.'']

then push the film and shaft assembly to the right, and pull t out on the left.
