email ?

I know all about scam emails and the like, I can smell them, and just delete any that manages to
get to my inbox or are ones un-recognised.

However
Q:- What's the risk if any leaving an email address open for say six hour with no activity waiting for emails that will come that day within the six hours.
Currently open, close, open close waiting for emails its a pain in the ar*e keep entering log on details.

Thanks everyone save time logging in every time now I know I can leave it open for expected emails.

rich I understand your comment but
I wasn't intending to sit and watch the screen for six hours I suppose I should have added that closing after not finding emails I would have to re-enter log in details, but if I left it open I could then be carrying on with my art and other things, and occasionally check the already open inbox screen. so not having to log on each time.

Its just I am not used to computers or the internet and as so much hacking goes on one gets wary at my age 74. and I don't keep banking details on the computer.

There is no risk in just leaving your e-mail client open or staying logged into your webmail account.
The same is true for your browser.
You can even leave those open for DAYS, weeks or even months without any risks.

In your case, I'd look for some e-mail notifier. It'll do the watching for you and notifie you when you get any new messages.

No risk - just never open an attachment to a mail message unless it's from a known and trusted source.

Good luck...
