Mend AEG 35085 Dishwasher Problem Going

AEG Favorit 35085 dishwasher?

I have worked out that the problem is that the heater is not working. So it is going through the cycle perfectly with water sloshing around correctly, the tablet is dissolving and it is going through the full cycle. But any greasy dishes are not getting washed. Also it is obviously not drying them (which is much less important to me). Do I need a repairman at £100+ or do I need a new dishwasher = mine is 8 years old.
