Mend Dimplex Chadwick Optiflame Switched Day Light

dimplex optiflame went bang when switched on?

Hi
I have a dimplex chadwick optiflame which has been fine for the past two years, then one day I switched the light effect on and it went bang. I got replacement bulbs which were for electric fire but it went bang again... any ideas?

Take the bulbs out and see if either is black on the threads if so the lampholder/s require replacing.Modern lamps have a small hole in the thread,when it blows the hot gasses come out and short out in the lampholder.if you purchase 9watt spiral lamps from B&Q they last a lot longer and use less power
