How do I service my ford mondeo?

I wish to service my 1995 Ford Mondeo Ghia 2.0 16v automatic including a change of cambelt. Is this feasible for an inexperienced car mechanic to do or should I bite the bullet and book it into a garage. The quotes for this work work out to be twice the purchase cost of the car. What do you class as a service,oil and filter change is a service,brakes are a service,look at what you think is wrong with the car buy a Haynes manuel and decide wether you can fix it from there,or put it into a garage for those specipic faults,Quick Fit and places like that are quite good value , dont go to a garage and give them cart blanche to to what ever they think needs done.
