Mend Ford Mondeo 1998 2.0 16v Transmission Automatic Gear

mondeo 1998 auto 2.0 16v only operates on 1st and 3rd in drive?

my mondeo 1998 2.0 16v auto only operates in 1st and 3rd in drivewith you having to back the throttle off to get it to move up, it has been suggested it is the drive band but i would have thought one gear cluster would be for reverse 1st and 2nd the other for 3rd 4th/overdrive any comments appreciated.

Hi i rebuild lots of these gearbox,s it,s a CD4E.
You say it only work,s in 1st do you mean it will only pull away when you put the gear lever in the manual 1 position then move it forward into 2nd or 3rd it will change up?
