How can I fix this error code on a Fisher and Paykel WashMachine?

Error code 51 is a divertor valve fault. At the beginning of the wash cycle the machine puts in about 3 litres of water then the drain pump starts running and the water is sent up & in to the top of the bowl to spray down on to the clothes. During this period there should be no water coming out of the drain hose in to the sink or waste pipe. If there is then you need to check the divertor valve. This is mounted next to the drain pump on the beginning of the drain hose. Turn power off at wall then remove the divertor valve and check for any blockage that may stop it moving fully over to the recirculating position. Take note before you remove it which way round it goes and which hose is attached to each outlet.
