Mend Candy 1400 AAA Heater Element Machine

Candy 1400 AAA Water Heater or Element Failure ?

Our Candy 1400 AAA washing machine stopped heating the water one day out of it's guarantee, and no sympathy from Candy.
I'm thinking that this could be either the element or thermostat which has failed.
Can anybody tell me how to access these items for testing please ? I have done this sort of thing in the past, but just need some guidance to get me started.
