Mend Renault Scenic 1.6 Engine Starter Motor

renault engine clicking?

renault scenic 1.6 petrol 55 reg

ignition is off, key card removed but there is a constant clicking noise coming from the engine bay. its been doing this for about 2 hours. it sounds similiar to a faulty starter motor. any ideas why its doing this with the key removed, also battery is flat.
