how to stop ice build up in gutter drain hole in my hotpoint fridge freezer as this prevents water from escaping down gutter drain hole

Hotpoint Kitchen Appliances, Freezers Drain Hole Water

No - there's some food debris further down the drain pipe causing water to collect rather than draining away. You may notice this water as liquid water during the defrost cycle and as ice during normal running.

If you think about it the water runs into the gutter and Then Freezes - it will not arrive there as ready-made ice - the drain tube is blocked.
