Leyland Daf 45 150 horsebox, revving up on its own?

Just had new diesel lift pump fitted, injectors bled and eventually started, taken for a run and driving ok. When left ticking over revs going up and down on own, what could this be? Mechanical husband scratching head now, I am scared to take it out in case of breakdown with pony on board!

try draining the fuel filter, if you find excessive water it will cause hunting in the engine, a new filter would need to be fitted if you find the present one saturated

..if you have no air leaks or fuel leaks ..get injectors checked by an injector agency ,if they are ok it msy be fuel injection pump issue
