Mend VW Sharan 1997 Light Dash

handbrake indicator switch?

I have a 1997 vw sharan 2lt auto, the handbrake indicator light on dash keeps flashing when handbrake is off, have changed the switch, but it keeps flashing. any ideas as to why this is happening and how to fix.
