Mend Heatmaker Mark II Heating System Problem

Heatmaker Mark II makes a loud bang when it fires up. What is the problem?

My heatmaker mark II makes a loud bang when it is firing up and then will bang every once in a while while it is running. I have since shut it down. I am sure that a part needs to be replaced, but not sure which one. Can someone help me?
