well if you are sure the lid switch is damaged then fix it or replace it with a new one. It may just need adjusting. There is an adjustment screw on it to make it work sooner or later when lid is lifted. Try adjusting the screw first. It is underneath the top panel just above the right hand corner of the bowl.
