Mend Flymo FL289 Coming Problem Start

Line keeps coming out?

I have a flymo strimmer with a fl289 spool.. problem is as soon as i start to strim the line comes out .. so i got a new spool an line and put it in and it still comes out
Any help please

The line keeps coming out because the spool is not locked into the mechanism properly allowing it to spin independently of the machine.

What i mean is the strimmer is out about 4inches when i switch on and after a few seconds it makes a clacking noise and the line is out another 2inches and the more i have it switched on the more it comes out

brand new line and its a auto feed

Check if the line is wound on the correct way round, on auto feed, you need to tap the end, but is the end staying in, not popping out to lock the line
