Mend Peugeot 307 Petrol Warning

petrol warning light stays on?

hello i have a peugeot 307 51 plate my petrol warning light stays on even when i put petrol in it and the gauge shows empty i have had a new fuel and sender unit fitted and it still shows empty. any ideas please.
