The programme selection dial keeps spinning round and will not start any programme.The machine makes a noise, but doesn't move and there is no water in the drum. The start light keeps flashing.

hi, i have a w101,what lenght are the brushes meant to be,i removed them, there is about half an inch of carbon showing on the brushes,power is going to the motor but will not rotate the drum,with plenty of sparks coming from the brushes area,drive shaft spins easily with the belt,so thats not seized,any suggestions people?

Mine does the same, and the light flashes 8 times - any clues. I did clean the pump filter and found a 10 pence piece.

You need to count the flashes on the mains light. It flashes a sequence then pause for 10 secs then repeats. The No of flashes is your fault code. When you know your fault code you need to ask for help again.

try replacing the thermistor (the temperature sensor) whick is usually located on the heater itself and this should the problem
