dishwasher problems?

My dishwasher leaves grit on the top and sides of cups and glasses? The hot water heater is 2 yrs old.
If I run the "pots and pans" cycle it is much less?

I would suggest the grit is entering the appliance with the water.check to see if you have a filter fitted to the water feed pipe.should be either in the pipe where it connects to the appliance or inside the valve where the pipe connects.its a round micro mesh filter.may have been removed when your appliance underwent the last repair.
