Bosch dishwasher timer/cycle problems?

Looking at the questions there are a number of similar ones to this one but which don't appear to have an answered.

On my Exxcel it is running through the cycle and then the timer will jump from, say, 20 minutes to , say, 120 minutes and it will carry on. A number of variations on this question.

In my case, if I stop it at this point the dishwasher is hot inside so I presume water is being pumped in but even when the cycle completes dishes are not properly rinsed.

Any ideas? It sounds like a reasonably common fault.
Did anyone with this problem get it fixed?
