Mend Technosonic Screen Wont Switch

My son has a 32 inch technosonic flat screen tv, it won't switch on ?

It started where we had to flick the on off swich on the underneath of the tv on and off very quickly a few times to get it on, the one day it came on and went off after about half hour and has never came on since. Any suggestions? Or do I just take to tip?
He has had it about 3 years.
