how to take off the bar?

i have just bought a pre owned Ryobi 4040, and i dont know how to undo release chain and bar because the last owner put it on backwards.

couldnt agree more dont mess about take it into your local shop and ask them for some guidance at least i see people on a daily basis that i quite happily run through the basics with

With respect. you don't even want to consider using a chainsaw if you don't know how to do the basics such and removing and replacing the bar/chain safely and correctly. You need to be shown and trained one to one on how to do this. Safety is paramount with chainsaws, and not ideally suited to weekend warriors.
