Mend Hotpoint 6431 Ignition Gas Hob

Ignition on Hotpoint 6431 gas hob firing randomly?

The ignition on my gas hob Hotpoint 6431 gas hob has started firing randomly. It's happening roughly once every five to ten minutes.

My two questions are 1) is this safe, and 2) how do I stop it?
