Mend Whirlpool Gas Hob Cooker Ignition Switch

how do I fix ignition switch of Whirlpool gas hob?

when i switch on the front gas ring, the flame comes on but only stays whilst the switch is pressed. as soon as I let go of the switch, the gas supply cuts off.
