timer on simpson esprit 550 washing machine?

I had a new timer installed last year but can't find the receipt. Am sure it was done only about 9months ago. Anyway the timer seems to be failing again. At the moment I can manually turn the timer through each stage of the washing cycle, the only difference this time is when the knob of the timer gets to the stage that it should
automatically go to the next stage, its making a small whirling noise which then stops but does not move along as expected.
