How do I replace the drive belt on Craftsman lawn mower?

I have a Craftsman 5.5 hp self propelled law mover. Model #917.372940. The drive belt on the front left needs to be replaced. How do I do this the easiest way?

The easiest way is to unbolt the engine from the deck so it will slide forward enough to get the belt free.
The right way is to remove the blade, blade adapter and drive belt pully from the crankshaft. Getting that bolt loose that holds the blade adapter is tough without an impact gun.
