briggs and stratton 3.5 wont start?

a little odd. still sounds like a fuel problem as it starts for a few seconds then stops might be worth checking that the valves are opening and closing correctly take the valve cover of the side of engine pull ht lead off and rotate engine the only other thing i can think of is to change the head gasket i take it you dont own a compression tester

when you say you have changed the carb and tank what do you mean new one or old one ? did you replace gasket and diaphram between them
