Mend Briggs & Stratton 28S777 Lawnmower Throttle Engine

Run away engine?

Have B&S riding lawnmower motor Model: 28S777. Once started, it runs wide open. It will not slow down. Have checked throttle linkage and appears ok. Can anyone help with an idea of what is wrong. Thanks

yes indeed,
take off air cleaner and check and oil all moving parts, with spray oil if poss (wd40) sometimes it's the choke that sticks, there is a small spring on the choke, make sure it is moving freely.

Check the carburator itself. Maybe it's stuck whide open...
