Mend Canon PowerShot A510 Digital Camera Not Working

Canon digital camera zoom lens not working?

I have a Canon digital camera...Power shot A510.
It is around 5yrs old....
When I press on the on/off button the camera
comes to life,however the zoom lens do not protrude
therefore I cannot pose photos. what could be the problem?
