Mend Honeywell RF2 Thermostat Boiler Signal

my battery symbol was flashing to replace the batteries which I did, since then the signal to the bolier has gone with the red light permanently on, I have tried holding the plus and minus buttons, plus taking the two drawers out but to no avail, I have to overide to have the heating on .Please help Many thanks
