Mend Zanussi Washing Machine Motor Fault

zanussi washer?

i have a zanussi that flashs/beeps end light 5 times ,which is motor problem and cannot start any prog.
the brushes look good but i have found if i disconnect brushes problem goes away but obviously no spin.

is this just a brushes prob or in motor .ie i dont wanna replace brushes only to find its the motor
