Mend Volkswagen Passat 04 Locking Doors Unlock Remote

VW Passat 04 Central Locking issu?

The doors will not unlock with the remote key fob. They will lock though, and the only way to open the doors is to first press the boot release on the key fob followed then by manually unlocking the drivers door with the key in the lock. Any ideas?
