After reading a few tricks and tips on here, I've managed fix both problems..
Just thought I would post my solution in case anybody else has the same problem..
To fix the over filling problem, take the lid off, at the rear right corner is a pressure switch with a black tube connected. Gently pull this tube off and blow. When it is clear, refit and this will cure the over-filling..
To fix the fast spin, you can adjust the tension on the belt by adjusting the motor, similar to how you would tighten the fan belt of a car. Remove the rear cover. Loosen the bolt on the motor and pry the motor over a little to take the slack out of the belt, then re-tighten the bolt. When tight, the belt should not be able to be pushed in more than about 15mm.
