Mend Panasonic MC6210 Switch Side Cover

How can I fix my Panasonic MC6210?

I need to replace the on/off switch on the side of the vacuum cleaner (Panasonic MC6210). I have taken off the front cover and taken out the dust bag. Removed the two retaining screws but the panel will not budge.
Is there a special way of releasing the panel to be able to get to the switch?
