How can I fix my kenmore heavy duty 70 series 110.82873100 washer?

The problem is the washer fills up and stops with clothes and a full load of water in it, not letting it spin or drain. The washer still sounds like it wants to work, the timer works, but when you put in any cycle nothing happens, sometimes it will fill up the washer with water for about 10 seconds, then when it moves to spin or rinse and spin nothing happens. I don't know much about washers so I'm looking for an easy and cheap fix! Any thoughts?
