Mend Hoover Deluxe Hot Tumble Dryer

Hot rubbery smell from Hoover Deluxe tumble dryer?

The clothes smelt rubbery as well. We are cleaning the inside of the machine and noticed a broken 'string' inside a 'spring' (or element) at the top front inside the machine. Is this the problem? can we get a repair manual for this anywhere?
