Mend Veritas Alarm Off Set

the alarm goes off when it hasn't been set?

we have a veritas alarm and it keeps going off when it hasn't been set. The '1' on the box then flashes (which I believe corresponds to the front door) and 'tamper' is also illuminated. We can't get an engineer until next week - is there anything we can do ourselves?
