Backing up in windows XP?

I want to backup my entire system in Windows XP. I went to Start, Programs, Accessories then System Tools. I was informed that the Backup Program would now appear. As it dosn´t can you help? As I am a bit of a novice, detailed instructions please. I will be using CDs to backup.
