why is my tv changing colors and then cutting off the screen?

it sounds like whats known as a bright raster with flyback lines when it changes colour is the colour red green or blue?in which case the tv is cutting out as its going into protection mode as the tube is being driven hard on that can be a faulty tube im afraid if its a bright white screen with lines then you have 200v or so missing from the tube base which is normally a resister and a chip i will adviced you further when you give me more imfomation and how much experience you have
