sounds like you've got a nokia...... this is a common prob with these phones and is only rectified with the replacement of the screen which is connected by very small ribbon connector..... most good phone shops will be able to do this for a small fee..... or if you feel adventurous.... ebay usually have no end of people supplying them for most nokia models
