My R reg Mazda 323 Imola windscreen wipers have brokem?

My windscreen wipers just broke.

They were working fine then there was a clunk and they stopped working.

It looks like theyve become unattached from the mechanism that drives them up and down.

Any idea where to look to try and fix them?
