Maytag Model A407 Washing machine?

How do you remove the agitator from a Maytag Model A4078 Series 02 washing machine?

I have the same problem...stuck agitator. There is no set screws on side or top. Rocking the agitator from side to side while pulling up is no help. Wrapping a rope under the agitator and pulling it up with a 2x2 doesn't help. I can't see what is holding it. Arrrgh!!
