Mend Hoover 4617-930 Vacuum Repair Motor

How can I fix my Hoover ?

i removed the cover from the Hoover 4617-930 and replaced the belt. In the process the set of wheels under the cover just in front of the motor came off. I can see how the wheels and the v-shaped spring can be reassembled but just can't seem to snap the speing in place. Rhere must be some "trick". Can you help?
